Alcohol as EPA registered disinfectant

Does anyone know if alcohol is on the list of EPA-registered
disinfectants?



Received an inquiry from a reader about her accrediting organization's
wanting her to use only EPA-registered disinfectants in the facility.

    EPA registrations are product specific and are related to claims that the product kills organisms. Since it is product specific, "alcohol" would not be a registered disinfectant even though there may be data to show that (ethyl) alcohol at a certain concentration will kill organisms.
